Decent mechanic-ing torch

My old one, which was the upright type but lit on the end as well, has given up.

Is there a clever type that’s good for working on hubs/brakes, attaching in the wheelarch somehow? I used to ram mine into the suspension spring to shine downwards, but it was always keen to fall down and shine right in my face. Got thrown across the workshop more than once for that.

I’ll have a look, thanks. Already got a head torch, but looking for a light that maybe clamps on the spring/strut. They all have magnets, but there’s nothing ferrous in a modern wheel arch to attach to.

Got a unilite 375 (for some reason, much cheaper on Amazon than the Unilite site). It’ll be put through its paces changing a 300tdi LR slave cylinder tomorrow!

i actually have this one its so handy and its mag base dosnt half help when your under cars but dont forget it as i have doen a fair few times

ive ended up using it for more than just cars so handy and light i can use it in many places now

I have the little folding Milwaukee ones. They’re fine enough.

Also got a couple of these. Both found under lorries. First came up from Aberdeen, the other Glasgow. That says a lot about the magnets for me so these are all I’ll buy now.

No matter where these torches are perched they get in the way,fall off or are in your face, gave up on them long ago.There just isn't the room under a wheel arch for two hands, a swede and a suitably placed torch.

been using a newer sealey of late ,, thin wand bit and dim-able and very long battery life. actually been using two , and that gets a full day with no charging , and lets you use one above and one below the work area , head torches dont work well if your grinding or welding as they just conflict with mask and goggles .

I use a makita fingerlight.
Fluorescent thing. Just sit it on the ground, I also have a wire in the middle if I want to tie it up (bit like a pipe cleaner I don't tie it, just wrap a few times, it holds the weight) I'm sure It did come with a load of string when new.
If you have other tools it's worth it.
I wouldn't expend on a battery and charger just for the light itself.

I've not had to change a bulb in the ten year I've had it. Give or take

I have a few gob lights (turn them on hold them in your gob) that you get from service stations. Pound a go when they're sat on the counter occasionally.

I use this for truck spannering aswell as a head torch and m12 light. Can't really have enough

I bought one of those headband torches from Amazon that have a strip of LEDs in the front of the band, with a spot lamp to the side in the battery compartment - I was quite impressed with the amount of light it chucks out, even in "low" - less impressed when I accidently switched on the "wave" function where waving your hand past the side switches it on or off - when I leant into the wheelarch, the thing switched off . . . lean back, it switched on - soon switched that back off.

I misplaced it somewhere (probably with my specs . . .) so ended up buying another.

Very low profile, so you don't keep bashing it on stuff, lights up where you look very well.
