Deciding on an air hammer for automotive use.

Sold all the bits in the photo for £120, the exhaust chisel new on its own is £70 so the buyer got a decent deal.

If you got £120 for the few you had - my little collection looks like a savings scheme (bet I could find some more somewhere in my workshop if I looked)

Plus I found a set of non turning bits - but not got a chisel to put them in

There are more than one type of "non turning" chisel.

£120 included the air hammer which I think is £260 now.Most of the other chisels were cheap bits that came with the now defunct cheap air hammer.

I have had the Clarke air chisel with needle attachment. It got some serious hard work when the local yacht club travelling boat hoist needed derusting and overhauling. Hour after hour sometimes with chisel bit for heavy layered rustscale, and sometimes with needle attachment for lighter rust. I have nothing to compare it with, but was impressed at the work it has done. It wasn't expensive, and still works fine.

I've got a Sunex SX243 long barrel run it at 120+psi static line direct from either the compressor or my auxiliary tank it will shift or punch out anything I've asked off it.

I really wanted the harbor freight cheif tried to pick one up from a harbour freight store when I was in the States as they won't ship abroad but they was out of stock so got the Sunex when I got back here.

I've also got a generic short barrel jobbie but only really use that for needle scaling

place I work at the moment has a snap on branded one , long barrel and it hits really hard ,,,

but it still seldom ever gets used .

I have one of those. Not used it a lot, but it works. Haven't anything to compare it with.
As well as Chisels, you can get a set of small hammer heads to fit these off FleaBay which can come in handy for thwacking something in a tight space
