Had 2 teeth pulled today nowt wrong with them just loose
Caused by 35 years of smoking they reckon
Looking for sympathy

Quite a lot wrong with them if they were loose. You should have just got a punch and hammered them in deeper.

Yeah have my sympathy. It does stink loosing teeth.

Sometimes you see people who smoke a lot and they look like they have barnacles for teeth.

Ive similar teeth issues, apparently for the same reason. Had root plaining done, when I first heard about it, it gave me an image of some brutal machine, and me returning hime looking like him in the bond movie.

But it seems to assisted greatly, no change in the teeth, but gums much better.

You have my sympathies John. I'm in the same boat myself. most of mine were loose for the same reason so the dentist pulled them out. I now only have a few of my own ones, and one of them is loose too now. I had some temporary dentures fitted immediately that were only supposed to last 6 to 12 months. 3 years down the line they're still going strong! Need some new ones so though as they're getting a bit loose now, but I do regret it.
One of my biggest fears is my kiddies going down the same road. Of all the things I could screw up being a Father, I worry most about brushing their teeth properly!

It’s not nice going and knowing what they want to do to you, I’m sure some dentists enjoy it

You have my sympathies mate, I hate the dentist. Not personally, she's quite a pleasant woman but on a fundamental, she inflicts pain on me level! She had a knee on my chest when extracting a wisdom tooth, but to be fair I don't think either of us particularly enjoyed the experience.

Sorry if you have been smoking for 35 years you don't get sympathy. I packed up 40 years ago never touched one since. My mate recently started again and it's costing him about £70 a week but he's happy spending his pension on fags, beer and just wasting the rest of it. When I told the dentist I didn't enjoy appointments she said she would be worried if I did.

Implants are expensive but really good and the best option. Nice engineering process; pilot drill, hammer and drift to increase the depth of the bone, screw in insert, wait a few months for bone to fuse with implant, screw in new tooth and cover tooth screw with filler.

Is a bit weird having a hammer and drift taken to your jaw though.

I was sent from my dentist to a specialist as one of my side teeth twisted, he x rayed etc , came up with a need to extract ,fit braces etc etc, price was over £1200, he wasnt impressed when I said I could get it removed for the price of a pint, explained I would go over to the pub accross the road, insult the road workers who had just walk in for lunch. one good right hander should do it..he sent his assistant away,she came back with a price of just over £800.

Just read Linda Lovelace's dentist's autobiography. Evidently she had the best teeth he had ever come across.
