Why...what do you need gears for?
I went to get the one @doubleboost reviews and it was out of stock .so as I needed one quick I grabbed an even cheaper one on eBay.
I can't fault it to be honest...especially for the money.

Mine is Katsu brand. Most likely identical to be honest but I can't find fault with mine ...YET.I bought a similar one at a similar price. Piece of junk. The bottom joint is loose and will not hold. Going to try putting a small jubilee clip on it to squeeze tighter.

Is there any difference between the Noga-style indicator arm and the Manfrotto-copy 'magic arm' used in photography? Only thing I can see is the threads on the ends. An indicator holder is not too difficult to make - copy the gripping end of the one shown and put a flexure fine-adjust on the other as in Stefan Gotteswinter's design.
And a large array of prices..lolI doubt there is much difference. They all work in the same way. The manfrotto will have 1/4UNC thread
...I think the issue with the ones I have is the steel balls, they aren't perfectly spherical.
