Diamond core drills?

All the local stone I drill is softish,lime or sandstone,if I’m on a new building or an old where it’s had some additions and the builder has used the cheap stone from the Himalayas I’ll often give up and cut a neatish 50mm square hole with a diamond disc to get down to the softer stone below,then use the carbide tipped core drill .

Last soil pipe I did was with a DeWalt 240v ...bricks were made of Kryptonite because it took me about 3hrs!

I'd be interested in a good 240v recommendation ...the DeWalt was under powered and frequently got stuck.

I found the solid body type core drills get gummed up easily....anyone else noticed that?

i have the dewalt 1300 w core drill and it certainly isnt under powered

@Pigeon_Droppings2 me too,just tap the side or poke a small chisel inside and tap it to eject the slugs.

I'll look and see what mine is...reckon it's only 900w maybe as it really struggled. I kept having to blow out the cut too

Wish I had proper core bits! Done a couple of 65mm dia holes. The worst through the concrete garage floor then on through the concrete footings at an angle. Around 750mm. All to get a cable duct in.

Proper soul destroying doing it mind. Not looking forward to doing the other side of the garage. Will hire a proper long core bit.

Do you did they take the drill with them or might it still be there?

There might be one in a branch of the Northern Bank. Been there a few years though!
