Disguising Galvanising Vent Holes

You are far more likely to have corrosion problems by using mixed materials than by leaving vent/drain holes. Not surprised the galvanisers weren't sure about the effect of galv on stainless, I for one have never seen or heard of it! You should be able to get MS caps from the likes of Brundles or Alvin Industrial at a reasonable price. Steer clear of places like BSS or Wolseley (Pipe Center) as they charge ridiculous list prices without a trade account. W/A

That was the reason for doing the test. Its fine, and there is no discernable difference in colour / finish.

There are tubes let into the main uprights near the top where the crossbar passes through, so that it is totally sealed at the top, as requested by the customer. thats M30 stainless allthread passing through.

All done.

Just to close the book on this, I had it all galvanised yesterday, and I filled the holes with some Araldite putty that looks like a fat grey slug from Halfords. It dried in about 5 mins enough to be sanded down, and then I sprayed cold 'galv' (though it isn't really) over it and it looked great! Job done, cheers for everyone's inputs. Bridge, complete with 10m span curved walkway I also made (but no pics), is now up in Wales being fitted somewhere at the base of Snowdon.
