I also think (thought) the threads for the saw might be metric? Only because I vaguely remember buying some copper washers to go behind the saw and thought they were a metric size.

One thing I would do if I was making one is fit a lock on the shaft (or maybe just weld a big nut over it so I could stick a spanner on)
Sometimes it's a right pain to try and unscrew the saw blade to change it.

Ps. The thread on the end of mine has an adaptor to screw over it.
The smaller original size seems to take all the saws I have up to about 20mm (??) then the adaptor goes over that and will fit upto (I think) about 70mm which is the max capacity of the notcher.
