Ten years to finish ! Ever the optimist . 10 lifetimes more like.I always wanted to build a café racer and found a very expensive aftermarket fully adjustable rear shock off a CBR600 that I thought would be great for it, this was before I even bought the doner bike
I then bought the bike but needed to make things so a lathe / milling machine were obtained then a tig welder then a mig welder then a hydraulic press then a massive compressor then a selection of metal shaping tools and many many other tools.
The bike is sat under blankets now seven years untouched after moving to a house that needs a full renovation and that spawned another massive round of buying more tools related to building works, acros, kangos, cement mixers, wacker plate, Stihl saws etc.
So I've gone from a shock absorber to a house renovation that'll probably take me ten years to finish
Or when some asks, "can you just"Never underestimate those “5 minute jobs”.
Years ago, I had a manager whose favourite phrase was “while you’re there………” you knew you would be tied up for hours!Or when some asks, "can you just"
5 minutes refers to the LAST 5 minutes of any job and ignores the preceding hours /months /years.Never underestimate those “5 minute jobs”.
Last week I had a chat with the "roofers" working on next doors flat roof to see if the could JUST nip up their ladder and seal a small leak as a just job. "yea mate no problem ,cost you £50.00 " Ok so lets see how much they could wind it up to. Half an hour sucking teeth and shaking heads got it up too £3750.00Or when some asks, "can you just"
This is another fine example of my OCD kicking in,"i Just want to move the rooms about up stairs"As for house renovation/rebuild I've been 49 years and 2 1/2 months and counting and still "not quite finished " My excuse is that if anyone criticizes I Just say WIP and leave it at that. Not proud that's just the way it is .
