Drill bit sharpener

Bit spendier than the Sealey… has anyone got / tried one of these Proxxon units?

I’ve managed to trash some HSS-Co drill bits which are 135deg, so I assume the Sealey and this Proxxon are fixed at 118deg and won’t help. Is this right?

Bit annoyed, the drill bits cost me an arm and a leg.

I have lidl one. It's better than a blunt drill but not as good as I need to be fair.

Yes I have used one, and they are very very good indeed!
An engineering works I know have one and I have use of it if needed, it is very precise!
I would have one but not at the price they are new!
I've seen a few go on eBay but for nearly as much as new, so I make do with the Sealey one!

Not liking to disagree, but I have a lidl one - I'm not sure it is better than a blunt drill
When a drill is blunt, I know it, and curse, give up on it, and get another one.
With this thing - I think 'maybe it'll be different this time' and I spend ten minutes wasting my time to get a slightly less blunt drill.
I really should chuck it away and buy a decent thing.

i got one of ebay unwanted unused gift paid 90 quid for it well under the new sale price had a couple of goes with it and it works well i mainly sharpen by hand so hardly used

I just sharpen them on bench grinder...

Tiny drills I tend to buy in boxes of ten and snap them before they go dull...

Big drills are easy enough to do - even if they not super centered up - you can always pilot drill first...

This is one thing I did learn in metal work classes at school that has been useful for the rest of my life.

Ditto that. I learned to sharpen on a bench grinder and can still do it reliably and repeatedly all day long.
Smaller than 3mm are a disposable, though. Not worth the bother.

I've got the lidl version of this, rubbish for sharpening chisels but once you get the hang of it it makes a good job of drill bits. Limited to sizes from 3 to 10mm.

I sharpen our drills at work on the bench grinder, a decent drill bit sharpener would just get wrecked at work..

Bought the Sealey out of curiosity more than anything, plus it's easier than digging half the shed/ workshop out to get to my bench grinder at home!.

Been meaning to knock up a pedestal for it really.

My peepers are not what they were and I struggle with sub 6mm drills, tried one of those plastic leccy sharpeners from screwfix and launched it in the bin. Seems even the nicer sharpeners are only good for drills up to 13mm which is a shame.
