The ball and chain they made years ago ,for stag nights ,before me they had stripped and chained a Lad to Bath Abbey in the city centre and placed one lad in "ye old stocks"....in a local village called Faukland


edit ~ball may have been a slug of steel encased in a ball of rubber

how did you get away with that a naked lad chained to bath abbey how long was he there and how old was he did he forgive you did anyone call the cops did you strip the other lad before putting him in ye old stocks i dont think i could work for you guys have you done anything else recently to other lads

I know a guy who does a new apprentice trick in the plastering game, getting them to press a 25kg bag of plaster over their head.

Unbeknown to the apprentice, another plasterer stands behind him and slices the underside of the bag when the apprentice has the bag pressed high over his own head.

Cue about 20kg of plaster on the apprentice's head....quality..

I trained at the company my dad worked at. He made it quite clear I was to receive no quarter. The worst I fell for was footing the ladder for the sparky for about two hours when he'd gone on the roof. Little did I know he had gone back down the other side and **Language**ed off to the bloody fish & chip shop.

Being sent for a pair of long weights was a free pass; I sodded off to the pub then claimed innocence next day.

Years ago we were building a big bus depot building and it was next door to a hardware shop where we knew a couple of the salesmen. We had to dig some pier holes before the footings went in and told the young apprentice to go to the hardware shop and tell Fred or Gus that we had sent him there to get a couple of 18 inch pier holes. I think Fred sent him to see Gus and Gus sent him to someone else before he realised something wasn't quite right ! We all had a good old laugh !

Another apprentice in my year (1970) kept all the nails after he had de-nailed a heap of form work and asked the boss what he had to do with them. The boss told him he had to straighten them all for re-use of course, before he laughed and told him to throw them away.

got to be careful sending lads out for daft stuff! I actually came back with 5 ltrs of TARTAN paint and it wasn't cheap stuff guy got it knocked out his wage. No it wasn't tartan striped just a pricey rust-proofer type thing of the same name.

Most of the other stuff that happened would certainly land you in prison now or with a massive bill, no bad thing really

i had the wheel nuts lossend on my push bike when i started working at a printing press i decided it was a bit to mutch to loosen the wheel nuts on the guys car who did it to me so i just feed his buty box through the banding machean about 300 times took him all lunch brake to get in to it

A lad when I worked at a tool higher place was sent for new air for the compressor as it ran out while using as never turned it on lol

Worst one for the apprentices at Longbridge was the sewing room, they'd get sent under the tables to sort out footswitch faults, one of the girls would grab his head (next bit not for family friendly forum) and he'd come out red faced

I was sent for a bucket of liquid oxygen at my first place, when I realised I'd been had (after I went to the local engineering wholesaler and been laughed at) I filled the bucket with water and threw it at the guy who sent me on a fools errand. Made a mess in his office though. How I didn't get sacked I'll never know.
