i did find an hour to pop up the farm, i have several shipping containers that ive aquired over the years, the one with the ford engines in wasent to full, just the over spill tyres from the tyre container to squeeze past first , but i did find half a dozen engines under the racking

i gotta find time to have a tidy out
first engine i tripped over was a 4 lt rover serpentine belt with a dizzy i must have been keeping it for something i guess
under that bay of racking there was also a pug 306 turbo diesel a suzuki jimny engine/box and some sort of subaru at a guess
but i did find the 2 ford dohc's

this is the one with the auto box on the back

this is the manual dohc but for reasons i dont remember the gearbox is missing so that pushes me down the auto route

all the sensors appear to be there but no ecus

so i suppose i need to find out if this auto box require electronic control because it if does i gets more complicated
the only good news was that the auto engine and box are on a trolley that will push to the doors and i can get it out and home to see what ive got

i understand i even remember wasted spark ing sytems, did you use the standard ford crank sensor ? or are there any other sensor i would need to acquire ?

Yes, standard magnetic reluctor crank sensor. I mentioned the type as it means you have to sort out which wire is positive going when metal approaches, not difficult. I also used the stock TPS. I hade to buy a MAP sensor as they never had one, also the water and air temperature were new.

@Baloo you are missing the MAF sensors on those, they are in the intake duct which you don't appear to have anyway.
How long have they been stored away? Were those engines properly stored? Bores oiled, turned over regularly etc. if not I would worry about the condition of the bores, valves etc.
Transmission could be a A4ld or a A4lde. The first is just mechanical, no electronic control. The A4lde has rudimentary electronic control, the overdrive has a solenoid to switch it and the torque converter is a lock up type. Not a massive issue. The A4lde appeared in the Scorpio at some point, not sure when.
My main concern would be the potential condition of the engines. As I said previously parts are getting scarce. You will also need a propshaft with a sliding spline joint as the Ford trans does not have a slip yoke (at least the MT5 doesn't, not sure on the auto's).

my best guess would be they have been in there 7 years, i dont think they have ever been turned over in that time
my view is that i should bring them both home check them out and if they no good they can go in the scrap, there is no point storing them if wont be of any use, i will drag them home in the next couple of weeks and report back,
same goes for the pug, suzuki and rover engine that are in there, no point storing junk i need to be ruthless

well a finished tidying up the spring top mounts, will try and get them into red later today

i kept a piece of the mx5 body shell so i would have a reference for position
and thats my version of mazdas

they just bolt on to the chassis so i can adjust height if i have too

i was just going to strip the shocks as in remove the springs and paint but i just dug them out from under the bench and it seems one has had a mystery collision with something
bent as a nine bob note, i dont remember that happening but i did remove the mazda body shell with a 13 ton excavator maybe i hooked something

so i just had a quick rumage on ebay and found 4 new ones and as these are probably original i can image 35 year old shocks dont work that well anyway, so sounds like a excuse to replace them all, they will be here monday

I've just had a look on the Burton's website, it looks like spares are better now than when I was after them. They now list timing chains and piston rings (£near 200). The really expensive bit is the timing chain idler sprocket at £170ish.
