i have the slot in the holder was 2 big so i filled it in and re machined itits great using it horizontaly flows well but wont weld verticaly without running downI havent had a chance to try it yet , been busy !
it costs an awful lot for what it does, I can o/a weld aluminium and it costs £25 for 2.5kg of rods and £7 for a pot of flux,
any reason to use Durafix that justifies the £21.50 for 10 rods?
Cost of oxygen and acetylene?
The rods might be expensive, but for a one off job, hell of a lot cheaper than renting cylinders/buying gas.
i'm wondering if a propane torch would work with tig rods and oxy acetylene flux, might try that out.[/QUO
It take ages to get thick stuff hot.
Get an oxy turbo kit.
what is the melting point of tig rods?? melting point of aluminium is 660.37c the melting point of easyweld is 389c therefore if u are using a propane torch and heating the whole job up theres no chance of melting the article u are repairing or welding togetheri'm wondering if a propane torch would work with tig rods and oxy acetylene flux, might try that out.[/QUO

i'm not talking about doing it out of necessity, i was just wondering if it'd work at all cause i've never tried melting aluminium with a blow torch, i have tig and oxy acetylene.
is durafix silver based? if so cost justified haha
isn't it usually used with a mini o/a type thing anyway? like the one on the durafix site? other wise i'm guessing the weld spreads out like brazing steel?

they do a free sample? I have ac/dc tig but I'd give a free sample a go, I like knowing all the options if people ask or if I'm in a situation where I need to do something with out all my kit! rare situation though but it does happen from time to time.
