I haven't tried it on my welders yet, but I've discovered a single layer of J-cloth (or Aldidley clone) is superb at keeping lots of muck out of my PC. I have a 150mm fan on the side blowing air in and since I added the filter the amount of dust inside has been negligible. I change the j-cloth every month or so, or when I see it discolour from the layer of muck on it.
