I cant bear over the ear defenders, awful things. To me at least. Maybe plug in ear thingies for noisy jobs.
Though Motorhead gigs and decades on two wheels have sorted my hearing

Saw them a few times, but it was Saxon that gave the most days of ringing ears after the concert.

I've tried that.
I prefer separate masks for these jobs.
On this type of production work I'll be in opposite ends of the workshop and try and do short stints in each
Say cut a few pieces, prep edges then go off and weld them.
Then go back to cutting.
Plasma area is by a door with an extractor fan just inside it.
Such fun being an artist.
