Nothing new about a swash-plate engine. Ricardo was messing around with them in the 30s.Was reading about this today...seems quite interesting.
They're focusing on the range extender market (since ICE is going to be killed off)....but as a concept I do think it's interesting in it's own right...is it real?
The power to weight stats seem a bit crazy....sorry if theres a thread already on this (I had a quick look around but couldn't find anything)
E-REX Is A 1-Stroke, Opposed-Piston Engine That Weighs Just 83 Pounds
Spanish company INNengine wants to change the way we think about combustion engines with its bonkers one-stroke, opposed-piston engine designs.www.rideapart.com
…Maybe they work on the principle of only needing one stroke to rattle your fillings outRemember that bark when those Commers were working had one as a recovery vehicle with a crane and a Garwood winch
A one stroke they were not
now theres a unique sounding engine ,a,commercial garage who were roots group dealers used to test drive them up a long climb beside us, that howl was music to my earsIt isn’t really doing anything more than the TS3 Commers of the early sixties.

2 stroke diesels are still widely used in shipsEuro Emissions compliance has basically killed 2 strokes, with the bikes at least practically a 3rd or more of the power is sapped away by the double catalyst exhaust.
Even with electronic oil pumps and fuel injection (and leaned to death mixture wise) they still need the cats..
Dead technology..

I used to work on 12v/71 Detroit Diesels, 4 valve 2 stroke diesel. Fascinating engines, dirty as hell and not produced any more.2 stroke diesels are still widely used in ships
Baby thing in reality, I was meaning the xross head engines, you walk about inside, 90 maybe 1m boreI used to work on 12v/71 Detroit Diesels, 4 valve 2 stroke diesel. Fascinating engines, dirty as hell and not produced any more.
Iv always tuned my own cars and bikes they are throttled by the manufacturers so muchWill have a look into it.
I was unfortunate enough to have to deal with Aprilia DITECH direct injection 2 strokes and Peugeot's version.
Great idea on paper, air pump driven by crankshaft, stratified air/fuel charge directly injected, all fancy ceramic components.
Reality was a bit of a disaster, not a reliable system by any means and a pain to work on!.
I believe KTM/ Beta etc still make a Euro compliant 2 stroke, first think people do is bin the exhaust and then you're a country mile off emissions compliance (no that it bothers me personally).
