0.0012 thou is 0.0000012 inches - that's what he's getting at.
One and a half thousandths of an inch is expressed as 0.0015".
having the two zeros following the decimal negates using the word "thou".
(It's like saying "pin number" - the word number is superfluous because that's what the n is for.)
That's why screwdriver asked,
"Do you mean 12 thou? i.e. 0.012 inch", l stated NO l meant less than 0.0012 inches or 0.0012 thou.
Really depends on how you were taught to express imperial measurements at school.
