I would go for the Fast mig but I have only seen them with something underneath them that seems to power them? do they need another machine to work?

Yes, you are correct. Those are just wire feed units - effectively a spool of MIG wire in a box with a wirefeed motor, and they do need a separate power source which is the actual "MIG Welder" bit.
