extension lead to run a 3hp compressor

well i have a 3hp 150l sip compressor single phase that i was using in my unit perfectly fine, had to give up my unit so the compressor is in my shed, the shed is at the bottom of the garden with no electical supply to it, i've tried the compressor using an extension lead, the compressor tries to start but then it trips the power inside the house

i can't really afford to have proper mains power put into my shed at the minute so need a temporary solution, anyone have any links to decent extension leads or other items so that it doesn't trip the power out in the house

Caravan hook up cables 16amp with blue plugs also a C type or D type slow blow breaker will help with the inrush currant

4mm if it is a long run of cable

dont use a d type breaker for domestic use go to a c type u havent said how long a lead u need to go to the shed if its just an extension lead make one up yourself using 2,5mm flex most bought ones are only 1.5mm then u have a good chance of running the compressor off it without problems

My problem with my compressor and an extension cable is it blows the 13 amp fuse. BUT when plugged direct into the ring main it blows the fuse in the compressor. The only way to stop it is a welding tip.....ooopppss i never said that. lol

also try the comp close to the house on a short lead to see if it does the same, also the temp being as low as it is makes it harder to start up so try warming the pump up with a hot air gun for a while before trying

you might have developed a fault on the comp with the move. Knocked the switch, loose wires in the motor?

no, it works fine without an extension

thats no good, i can't connect that to the compressor or the mains
