Ive also used diamond discs (12") since they hit the streets and cost £150 each back then Ive run them any direction with no segments coming off also except the one time in the early 90,s ..i was cutting into an old flat roof on John Moors Uni in Liverpool and a diamond came off right into a 10ft x 10ft plate glass window and it went "pop" i done the job for nothing after paying for the window to be fixed.

also used both the 9" and the petrol stiyl saw both have never lost segments though the 9" has grabbed dragged forward and gone into the ground once and that blew the fuse thats in all the times i have used the big tools
probably like roofman used them from being young

Again...thank you for sharing you're further experience. I've learn't a lot this weekend from this forum and googling.
