Got a new slider part made It’s much heavier duty than the original and a better fitment in the slot

That’s it all assembled with the old brush (still has loads of life) top guard is a piece of 2mm stainless with a small bottom fold for rigidity

Just need a shorter clamping lever, few paint touch up, bit of grease and the last bit of electrics and it’ll be ready to go into place and into use! View attachment 429890

Thanks bit frustrating as I’ve not long recovered from a slipped disc! Had all supplies ready to go for the new bench build as well!

Sorry not sure I fully understand might be lost in translation! But yeah there really isn’t alot to it nothing complex easy enough to build your own if you wanted to.

I looked at the manufacturer's page for the deburring machine. There was a lot of pathos and loud advertising words. After your photos of the main node, I was upset. I expected to see a cool engineering solution, but no.

I’ve been easing myself back into it this week with a bit of woodbashing still not complete but the majority of it is there just waiting for some more runners then I can carry on.

This replaces the bench I had by the door it’s around 100mm lower than previous so is a much more sensible height.

Thought you’d all like to see this. Filter from fume extractor done 30hrs on it the alarm was sounding today so gave it a clean out quite shocking to see how much this picks up!

Wish I purchased one when I first started out.

This is how the bench is looking. I haven’t done any sanding or painting/varnishing yet as it’s just too cold. Just got the top to sort out and have some folding shelf brackets to go on the end as a form of extension when cutting big sheets.

Part of the reason for starting this thread was to share some of the fun and games I have running older machinery. Went to fold up some plates on Monday on the promecam and wouldn’t switch on It’s been a bit intermittent recently anyway! Opened up the main electric cabinet to see the contactor sparking and struggling to pull in it shouldn’t be this at fault as I’d not long replaced it when chasing another fault!

After a bit of probing with a multimeter eventually deduced that the main switch was faulty full voltage wasn’t reaching the contactor Gave the contacts a clean and managed to get back running.

Rs components to the rescue with a switch on next day delivery. Old hole was massive so a bit of aluminium plate and its as good as new!

All on I also replaced the sous tension light with an led

Next job I think will be to replace these fuse holders to something more modern I haven’t any replacements and I don’t think you can get this size anymore!

About time I updated this. Not loads happening

Bandsaw went off to a new home with @Johnnybravo cpurtesy of a @fizzy pallet service wasn’t getting much use at all.

I’ve also decided the mill and surface grinder can go again they are just taking up space and sat idle.

It’ll mean that I can rearrange the workshop better and I have my eye on a turret punch which will help automate some of the jobs I do.

Also added another piece of kit in the form of a forklift my neighbour who I used to get to unload any deliveries I have has retired so made sense to purchase his.

Not the best picture but have today made 2 new scrap bins for the non ferrous means I’ll need to do less trips to the scrapyard and it’s not cluttering up the workshop!

Had an off day today had a cleanup in the workshop and got chance to get some drawers organised! Got tonnes of phenolic ply offcuts so pinned these together in the worst offending drawers.

Thank you. Has to be organised to get the work done fast! This I’ve found to be key to success haven’t been on garage journal before will take a look.

Hopefully a nice big update coming end of may time currently planning the next big workshop project!!

Thought I’d update this with the arrival of a new piece of kit. My old hydrovane was going to be replaced with something more modern anyway. One morning it decided not to switch on. So I’ve replaced with the above

7.5kw 40cfm variable speed screw compressor. I went with the base mounted version on advice from the supplier I’ve already got 2x200ltr tanks. It’s a little overkill for what I use but it gives future expansion growth but in the meantime it’ll run upto the speed it needs to run so should help keep some costs down.

I was planning a big install with air dryer etc

But I’ve been offered another unit in much nicer condition a little larger on some good terms so looks like a move is on the cards!! So a full install can wait until the new unit!

Oh and the new landlord mentioned that he doesn’t mind a shipping container or 2 out the front won’t be immediate but will give me space to put a wood workshop.

About time I updated this so new workshop time.

What a mess it was, according to the landlord this is clean and tidy it was in a far worse state than this! A lot of rodent issues and just general neglect!

My landlord put in lots of work clearing vegetation around the back and then cleared all the gutters throughout and then spent quite some considerable time sealing up all the rodent holes!

Started off by sorting the office, kitchen and toilet area.


office got filled and painted. Then I got gifted a few kitchen cupboards so used one with a piece of worktop I had to make a desk space.

The kitchen ceiling and bathroom got all freshly painted then the kitchen had a new cupboard unit and worktop

Bathroom had new sink, backsplash, water heater, toilet internals etc then I got a plumber to get it all plumbed in properly

Got a lighting upgrade in, the landlord hired a scissor lift so had use of that of an evening made it much easier and safer to do!

went with these bell highbay led to replace the twin fluorescents that were installed these are switchable wattage I set them to 150w they could be turned down to 100w if I wanted to will see what it’s like once machinery is in.

That reminded me, I actually have a thread on garage journal, from when we moved back to the Phils in 2010. I just had a look, photophuket has ruined the pics, but it’s still there. It just sort of peters out around 2015, can’t remember why now.

Then the landlord got a builder in to split the unit properly (he is using the one next door) previously this was just tin sheeting and not suitable

They blocked it up and then fireboarded between at the top.
