Favorite Ratchets?

For m1/2" its Britool because I recycled a box of 12 from work along with 30 repair kits. Elora for 3/8th and King Dick for the extended 1".

All to easy to throw a ratchet in the bin rather than spend a few minutes cleaning it out or lubing it. Our guys will do this and go look for another

Bob how long does it take to replace the guts and give it a dab of grease? 5 minutes, 10 minutes.

Then they go out for 4 hours to get a new ratchet, makes no sense.

Different story if they're paying for their own tools.

It makes no difference at all, you can get repair kits for most ratchets and any competeent engineer or spanner wielder would buy one at the time of purchasing the ratchet.

I submit it does make a difference. Cleaning and replacing, as necessary, is part and parcel of maintaining one's own tools. If they're supplied by the business, then toss 'em is the mind set.

So it might be teeny weeny and perhaps not count as a real tool but this has been super handy for tight spaces, cant remember
what make it is but it lives in my tool case and goes everywhere with me!

Looks very similar to a Draper 30781 which also has the 1/4 drive on the other end - I have one and it is very handy for tight spaces as you say.
Vessel do a couple of versions as well.

Wouldn't an ordinary bottle opener have been easier?

I got one of these off ebay when it was on offer, it's about a £5 more now dead handy with the hex drive 5 and 6 mm hex allen heads working on the car

If it is like the 2 dead snap on ones I had.
It was dam difficult to get the cover screws out. With out damage, they are not included in the service kit.

Annoying.

I though new screws came in the kit.
I need a cover plate for a ratchet.

When I ordered a kit from snap on, they were an extra.
Mac tools used to rebuild yours if you waited.
