the blades are d2 heat treated and cryogenicly treated i made a grinder with vfd speed control and 2'' wide belts, I just do it for fun,its like all of my hobbies a good way to spend moneyThe third picture looks like Lacewood, I used some to handle a knife blank it looks nice when finished. Another of my favourites is Snakewood. Are the blades carbon steel ? I get my 01 gauge steel from Cromwell, there's a shop local and they are well priced. What kind of grinder do you use ? So many questions Nice looking work and keep enjoying it.
this man is spot on ,nice work by the way!Hi the oak used in the handles looks very much like Holm oak cut on the quarter exposing the medullary rays it is an evergreen variety of the species,l used some in a little cabinet I made for the wife's sewing,see pic, I have some ideal material for knife scales,rosewood , brazilian tulip wood and some 7 mm x 70 mm carbon fibre composites with 2 different weave patterns nice blades , do you want to trade a blade for some handle materials,here's hoping, the pink,yellow block weighed about 2 kgs ,see View attachment 92087 View attachment 92088 View attachment 92089 pics
