Fire extinguisher patio burner.

Finished a bit more after work for about an hour, added legs and a short flue. I need to add a handle to the back now to aid carrying

Thoughts?

are you going to cut the bottoms of the legs so they are flat to the ground? possibly cap them off to stop them gathering huge clumps of grass and mud.

how does oxygen get in to keep the fire going? surely it will starve with the door shut and the flue full of smoke?

Two good questions,

I'm not too sure about the legs as the angle helps them dig into the ground, but could gather crap and rot quicker so my cut them and cap, although that takes measuring lol, banged the legs on by eye and got them pretty much spot on.

The door will normally be open a bit to show the fire and give heat to the campers. But I do think a few holes below the door with a hole saw could suffice.

if you want the legs to dig in you could just cut some steel from any remaining box section and cap them, still have the single contact point on each leg then.

if the door is open it will be fine.

i only mentioned it as when i made my first burner i didn't put any intake holes and with the door shut it starved itself quite quickly and then when the door was opened there were plumes of smoke everywhere lol

I think for a patio heater you need to see the flame as it looks good at night rather than a hot metal cylinder.
What about a pattern of drilled holes or slots?

I hate it when people put used matches back in the box

I like seeing the flame too, but my first had a very basic heat exchanger on the back connected to a small radiator to heat my balcony (since moved to a house) from both sides, so I wanted to keep as much heat inside the bottle as possible to get the pipes hot

Good call on the air holes/slots. I hate that with matches too, I was at my parents as that is where my welder is so you have them to blame

easiest way to get a burner going...just throw the box in and light with the oxy/prop torch

ok, maybe a bit of overkill...
