There will be details stamped into the receiver that will state the test and working pressures, together with the date of manufacture. Mine is 160psi.

It states 12bar design pressure, so it should cut out at about 170lb/in. The danfoss pressure switch has an on/off why would you want to turn it off?

When you leave the premises at night, perhaps? Or you don't need air. If there's a leak why would you want the compressor running intermittently just wasting power?

another reason for turning off is if there is a leak or a burst pipe the compressor will run permanently till the motor burns out if it isnt fitted with an overload starter it happened to me

So switching the pressure switch off, means the comp motor will not run? So you don't have to switch it off at the mains to achieve the same outcome, thanks

Had that at the workshop. Fitting blew out as someone hadn’t latched it in properly and it ran all night and burnt out the motor.

I’ve now put any equipment that switches automatically during the day on timers so that they switch off the supply just before closing and come on a couple of minutes after opening.

My old Clarke has the same Danfoss pressure switch. The toggle switch on the side also operates the unloader valve.

If you turn it off at the wall instead while it's running, the next time you turn the power back on, unless the tank pressure has all bled away in the meantime, the motor will be trying to start under full load, which is likely to blow fuses or let the smoke out.

Try and put anywhere but actually in the workshop if you have a choice because they are loud when they suddenly start up. I remember a garage I worked for had it in the office/stores and it would always start up when you were on the phone if you forgot to switch it off at the mains on your way in.

Just got back from working away, drained it, a small amount of fairly clean water came out, took out the inspection plug, about the best picture I can get, but there's a rusty porridge in the bottom, I think a flush of some kind, a further inspection and a hydro test to be sure....

Still better than what came out of seadogs though!
