First MIG welder purchase

I have been welding 3mm angle and box section. I do use it on full power as I felt I needed that to get a good weld. Surely the machine should cut out though if it was being used too much on a high setting?

Back to the SIP,
Its not only the local guy, they seem to get good reviews on the websites that sell them. These companies also sell other machines.

Anyway I don't know much about welding and I am also looking for advice. How about the Butters 180 he recommended that as a good machine as well? The SIP was £834.00 and the Butters £399.00, Its half the price.

The 'reviews' you read on the web will be from box movers & straight out of SIP's own catalogue; "A truely superlative range" blah, blah blah!
Trust me, there is far better equipment available.

Its American but at $1422 which is £736.00 if you added £100 for shipping thats £836.00


This welder would be way better than an SIP.


At second thought, the unit weighs 98KG which is like a Heavyweight boxer, so it probably would be more than £100 shipping.
