Google is your friend, plenty of ideas here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=t...Q_AUoAmoVChMIldu2yuqByQIVSLIUCh1JnQLK&dpr=0.9
some of the older landrover rims are stubborn aswell
sometimes took 2 or 3 attempts with a pneumatic machineThey were but none beat a piece of 2" x 2" angle, about 3" long set on the tyre at the edge of the rim and driven in with a 14lb hammer.
That's how they are fitted at the bike shop and static balanced. I've seen them balanced using a bar between two axle stands.I was told that the coloured dot on new tyres should be put in line with the hole for the valve. Apparently tires are check for balance at the factory, whether this is right or not I don't know.
I've been looking at the suggestions and information from people here and they've been really helpful, thank you.
For me this is a case of trying to save money. Funds are tight right now and it's MOT + Xmas season so
I'd hoped to save some cash but by time I factor in the hassle and how much my time's worth it doesn't add up. I'm going to continue to use my local independent. I just don't like the feeling of being bent over every time you go in you know? I've no confidence in any tyre place to give me honest and impartial advice. Always feel like I just need to grab my ankles and be done with it.
Repair as in weld or just cosmetics ? If cosmetics you only need a bead breaker then mask the tyre which is what the mobile guys doI just want a machine for taking tyres off ? while I repair and paint them ..

Just cosmetics all my wheels are steel, rust treat etc it's just easy for me without the tyre on as when done new tyres will need fitting at tyre fitting station ..Repair as in weld or just cosmetics ? If cosmetics you only need a bead breaker then mask the tyre which is what the mobile guys do
find a small friendly tyre depot and buy the new tyre on the understanding you can, take wheel in get tyre removed refurbish wheel and take back for fitting, its no more work for themJust cosmetics all my wheels are steel, rust treat etc it's just easy for me without the tyre on as when done new tyres will need fitting at tyre fitting station ..

Cheers my good manThat's right buddy, take it like a champ and be done Have a little comfort in the fact that the valves and weights cost a couple of quid per rim, then there's the electricity and all that.......
Thank you I mite just but it ...If it's just steel wheels you want to break the bead on.
