Cover your boots

What ever your do make sure you cover your boots. I know a guy who burned a silver dollar size hole in the top of his foot. Splatter rolled down inside his boot. Make sure you tie your boots up to the top and wear your pant on the outside.

When I was on arcair I got a bootful once and it took forever to heal, about 4 months if I remember right. After that we kept a bucket of water in the bay and if any went down there the foot, boot and everything went in. The suits they used to supply at the foundry were pure wool and would hole but never flamed.

I always wore Pioneer Arcmaster ovies, as Si mentioned, one big hot snot and, you still end up doing the rain dance, with a few choice words to boot!! Lets not forget the wearing of a good ol bandanna, kromer hinging oot rear pocket, nearly forgot, ovies tucked into rigger boots too :-)

That's brought back some memories, remember place I used to work at always got a few "Hollywoods" in when things got quiet on the 'lines

501s with one leg tucked in their riggers (just what was that all about?), Levi jackets, bandanna, 1 Kromer on their head and another in their back pocket and TIG gloves with the fingers cut out so they could get them on over the sovereign rings...........classic, mind you them boys couldn't half lay a bead

No probs with that fella, wear Pioneers and a Kromer myself, wouldn't be without my riggers either, wanna be wearin' summat I can kick off in a hurry when the hot snot starts flying, just could never get my head round wearing a £30 pair of jeans and a £50 jacket for welding in and having a spare hat hanging outta your pocket

Get yourselves a big can of spray starch and give your overalls and shirt a liberal dousing after you've washed and dried them. It works! In the hotter weather, I wear a cheap long sleeved denim shirt and just blast the starch onto the left arm and chest area (I'm right handed so always wreck the left sleeves first). Proban overalls are good but bloody hot and uncomfortable in the summer. I also wear Primark cotton canvas cargo trousers (£8 a pair, with a belt!) which also get the starch treatment.

I'd stay clear of spraying welding ovvies n stuff with starch, as it can be combustible!
