Flat Belt Pulley - plastic (maybe aluminium)

@puffernutter How many would you need and to what timescale? I might have a few plastic pulleys of around that size in the cave.

I bought them 'because they might be useful one day' but don't recall ever actually using them. Might be as many as half a dozen.

If it ever stops hissing down, I can have a search amongst the detritus out there.

@puffernutter Ref ^^, the weather Gods listened to me for 5 minutes, so I girded my loins and made a breenge [for those 'darn sarf', a good Scottish word CLICKY ] which yielded this.

O/D is 3.75 inches [or 95mm if you prefer ] - obviously 9 in total. If these are any good for your purposes let me know. I can't remember what I paid for them, nor do I have any idea what they might be worth now. Been in 'storage' for years......

^ those look ideal, atleast as the idler pulleys.

If you can have a look that would be great. Thanks. I guess around 150mm diameter feels about right? Slight V for 3 idlers and flat with a friction surface (e.g. rubber) for the drive pulley. It has to cope with the knot and poo bag flying past it!

Its good stuff to turn if you have a lathe.

It would be a pain to rethread, unless it was double length on another driven spool to run in reverse. Or you could rethread it each time, I guess the owners need exercise too!
The drive wheel, I see two ways to do it. A big loop with a mig wire feed style rollers to pressure drive it, or a big spool/pair of spools that pull the string in.

I did, but for some reason I don't have 'sub script' capability on the choice of font size on the forum - when I try it it comes up as 33/4", which looks cumbersome and might be open to misinterpretation.

If you're using a phone, just keep your finger pressed on the relevant number key, until it gives you a choice of fractions, based on that number.

Thanks. TBH I prefer the pc to the tablet as it's easier to transfer pics off my phone, and copy/paste if necessary without having to d/load. Yes, I'm a dinosaur..........
