flat head angle grinder

I don't rate Metabo at all, had a couple, didn't last more than 3 weeks.

3 year warranty should cover that if you registered it.

great to see so many replies. I googled flat-head angle grinder and it seems metabo are the only ones making one - i think they should all be flat head, its a genius idea.

I had impression that metabo were somehow related to makita, like a cheaper cousin of makita... if they are made in Germany, which is a good sign in itself, they are obviously nothinmg to do with makita.

what really hurts, as well as the ridiculous price tag for the li-ion version, is that ive invested in makita 18v stuff. ugh!

I still want one. Surely other manufacturers will follow suit...

On a slightly related matter I've just seen a tool I want in my local B&Q but can't find it on their website. It's a tool with a rotary flapwheel (or various other attachment for sanding blinds etc.) mounted at right angles to the body. Don't recall what it's called so I can't Google it. Not much help am I??

Anyway I want one!! Can see a lot of areas on the car it could be used on.

Metabo are in my opinion a better brand than Makita, dont know if they are linked.
I have had a Metabo grinder for years and its still works perfectly , Metabo tools are not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I don't see the point of it for fabrication, getting into nooks and crannies on car bodies maybe, but I doubt I would ever need one that much to pay a small fortune. I'd use a Dremmel or some fink.

The first power tool I ever bought was a Wolf Grinderette, great little tool has had nearly 35 years of moderate abuse and still going strong. It's good that grinders are so cheap nowadays: you don't have to change wheels, just buy another one!

Sardine, i see your point on the price, its a disgusting, outragous price.

Regarding the tool itself. It does everything a normal 4.5 grinder does, but, it also reached places and therefore can do things that a normal 4.5 cant do, so becoming a more versatile tool.

I'm pretty sure the Grinderette was 65 quid, at the time ordinary bitter was 40p a pint so the equivalent of 162 pints in today's money!

I was looking for a smaller or shallow headed grinder a while back and ended up with an £18 Homebase/Argos jobbie which as to be expected for the price wasn't without faults but at the other end of the price scale that Metabo is just obscene!
