Not always so lucky, my Harrison had a snapped shaft in the gearbox but only discovered it after getting back to South Wales from Crewe and in hindsight it turns out I paid over the odds for my mill

Spent some more time on it today, need to get it working as there are holes that need drilling

Finished off the wiring and refitted the motor, removed the belt cover so I could line up the pulleys then fitted the drive belt.

Plugged it all into my phase converter and when hiting the start button I get a buzzing noise and no action from the motor

Nothing is siezed, both the spindle and motor turn freely

Didn't have time to investigate further, probaby be Monday night before I get chance to look at it again

Had an hour free tonight so had a quick go at sorting out the non working motor. Had a spare 3 phase starter so wired it in and it works



Would like to find one that will fit inside the casting but for now will make a temporary bracket to mount it on the side of the drill.

She looks a bit low on oil too. Any idea what oil goes in them?

My Progress No2, which looks almost identical to yours, specifies Shell Vitrea 69. I've got EP90 in mine simply because I have a couple of gallons of the stuff.

Just read on the speed plate shell vitrea 33.

Yep, it is low on oil, form what I've read on Interweb ISO68 is the modern equivalent.

Next job is to drain and flush out the gear box then refill with fresh oil

Are you running yours off an inverter?
