For those who can't wear steel toecaps

I used to buy the Bolster and Apprentice ones but found they were gradually getting more uncomfortable, I tried the Pro lites and they were much better but now I have this problem with them.
I don't like trainer type boots or shoes for that matter! Just don't feels safe in them.

I’m good thanks, my apprentice made the fatal mistake of wear his brand new cat boots to silverstone

He didn’t realise how far we walk during a race weekend had to have two days off due to the blisters

I bought a pair of Cat boots when I worked in Brunei, straight out of the box they were the most comfortable boots I ever wore. They were the tall lace up type.

20 years ago I used to wear Dewalt boots all the time as I found them to be very comfortable. A pair would last me a year but then the quality changed dramatically with splits appearing in the leather after a few months. The local place stopped selling them due to the bad quality. Since then I tried several boots & never found them comfortable until I bought a pair of Grisport Boulders.

Italian leather, side zip for easy removal, large rubber toe cap, full length leather tongue & like slippers to wear! This is the first pair of safety boots that I've never managed to wear a hole in the toe! Sadly the soles are now getting very smooth but I'll not hesitate in buying another pair.

I have a pair of the standard toe cap boots. https://www.rufflander.co.uk/shop/safety-footwear/quality-cheap-safety-boots/s383-safety-footwear/ they need breaking in but once they are they're a great boot. Made in England, proper old english sizing so they're a generous fit. I destroy work boots in no time and these are standing up well so far.

Not so easy to find!
I used to use a pair of ex coal board wellies when caving. Big chunky external toecap but wouldn't fancy driving in them!

NCB wellies were the footwear of choice for motorcycle trials in the 70’s!

They were standard biker wear when I was several decades younger, we used to polish the steel toes up, bit of bling.

I stopped wearing steelies on bikes when I read of someone losing their entire complement of toes on one foot because of them.

Im currently in a pair of Cat Spiro boots. Cant wear Riggers on some of the sites i work on. Lace ups, just above ankle height, like a pair of slippers.
Yes they cost me a few quid, but was money well spent as i werent putting up with the cheap and cheerful cack boots my employer would supply.

Mate of mine works for a civil engineering company and riggers have been banned by them from the start of this year, he was told it's because they don't have any heel support. It was their insurance company that insisted on it apparently.

Riggers are a nightmare for catching/snagging on things especially if your jumping in and out of machines, banned on quite a few sites now.

I always wear laced up boots, I don't like the feeling of a loose boot although I do have a pair of riggers for working on muddy water logged sites. Jumping up and down off machines in riggers is a good way to end up with a twisted ankle though.

That's why i wouldnt wear a pair even if i could... far too easy to roll an ankle, and unlike dealer boots, they cant be cut off with a pair of scissors. So if you were unlucky enough to roll and break your ankle, theyd have to twist and flex your ankle to get your boot off your foot

Don't like any footwear loose on my feet

Have some toecao wellies in the van for dealing with mud. With boot socks they fit very snug and can just about tolerate.

I liked riggers when I got a good set, dead comfy, and fur-lined in the winter, what's not to like. Except... once or twice they got dragged off my feet (or foot) in muck and even just tripping over something, which is not something you want to happen at an awkward moment.
