As predicted, the Freelander has turned into a project car
It's an 02 1.8, with what seems to be a genuine 62k, full leather and electric everything
Someone has removed the prop, but I have one in need of a refurb for a later date, once the MOT is sorted
Not a lot of space at present, need to clear the yard but other priorities first

(I know its a K series but the bonnet is usually down)
First job was to sort the overheating, decided it may not be the headgasket due to the symptoms, plus a sniff test showed nothing and there is no oil in the water or vice versa
On the later engines the thermostat has been moved to the front of the engine, rather than at the back, under the inlet manifold

I have removed this and wedged it open, so far it seems to have cured the overheating.
I have a new one on order, once I've swapped the backbox and MOT'd it I will be doing a full service, including a new stat, if its all ok I will then swap the timing belt and water pump
Please don't turn this into "You should have bought a diesel" there is a thread for that already
