I've been the past few years and this year have an old colleague doing the final speech of the day (The one on ALM) even if you don't intend on buying anything its worth going. I got months worth of consumables as freebies, loads of discounts offered and even 2 job offers!
Was also cool AF to see the teslas and deloreans they had there

The day itself finishes at 4, although 90% of the freebies will be gone by lunchtime (lunch is free and awesome)

So idk if anyone else went, but this year I felt the open day was a bit lacking. There was a severe lack of stands for welders or small welding companies and more of a focus on EV's. While I have no issue with this, it would have been nice to have more than TWI and Bohler.
There was an electric Jag (F/E pace looking thing), tesla and a rolling chassis of some other vehicle. Both myself and @stuvy were looking at this chassis and really questioning the weld quality. One side was fine but the other looked like Stevie Wonder had been at work!
There were a few Fronius bits for sale, t-shirts, cycling tops, etc as well as the welding kit which was basically at cost - VAT so no massive discounts this year. There was also a massive lack of Fronius freebies compared to other years and very limited availability to try out their kit. Normally there are a few stands where you can play about to your hearts content with all PPE provided, but this year there were only 3 bays with 1 MIG set and 2 stick sets - NO TIG!!! They did still have the walk in demo stands where you could see the likes of the manual MIG or the CMT in action, but you only get to run a single weld on the MIG and cant use the CMT (its on a robot).
In previous years they have been 3D printing something in front of you when you walk in to the demo hall - not so this year. They did have the virtual welder trainer again, but after a couple goes this looses charm. I imagine this is true for most people given it has been there every time I have been and I didn't see anyone use it while I was there.
There was a fair bit for forklifts in one corner of the hall (maybe it could have helped you @Brad93 ?) but I didn't pay it much attention.
'Beer' garden was out back but nobody was in during my stay and the food was from a burger van, not the traditional Austrian food that they have had of years previous - I'd be curious to know why this was.
They did however have a F3 racing sim there which myself and Steve had a few goes on - we (eventually) managed to get second and third best times of the day (well they were by time I left).
Overall, while it was nice to attend I felt I didn't get half as much out of the event as previous years. The lack of welding based stands I feel had a play on this as there wasn't really anyone to speak to about 'proper' welding as such, but hey ho - I didn't pay to go so not too fussed.
@Tangledfeet asked me to post up some photos and I will once I am back at my PC rather than a works one. Didn't get many photos as wasn't much to photograph. Also, no skimpily dressed women

When is the TWI one? I've probably got the paperwork on my desk but no idea where!

I think I enjoyed the racing simulator more than the main part. After smelling stale grease from the burger van and seeing that they had left all the food in the sunshine I thought I’d be better off eating at weatherspoons!(I didn’t!!!)
It was good and as Joe mentioned about the istream Gordon Murray car I’d be ashamed to showcase that as my car of the future. I wish I’d have taken pictures as although it was welded it wasn’t welded to a very high standard from the A post backwards.

EWM will be at the TWI show next week, unfortunately i will not be there myself. Also, look out for the confirmed date for EWM Open Days to be confirmed very soon!

Pulling out the excuses hey?
Only managed one good lap on the second go due to trying to really hammer it and cocking up on one corner each time. Had I of put some of them laps together I would certainly have been a second quicker at min - especially as one of my dodgy laps was a 1.13.2
