Slit it and split it unless you have oxy gear.

Ive seen it done with a plasma cutter, im way too much of a wimp though if i have a scrap shaft i might play

Grind it with a slitting disc then split it with a chisel

Grinder or dremmel would seem to be the obvious option available in the home workshop as long as I'm not too ham fisted (or blind) which is certainly becoming more of a problem.

You can use a big bearing splitter and a press - if you love the shaft in question.

I have some bearing splitters but I can't get them between the race and the hub without making a mess of the shoulder, probably operator error, but the ones I have weren’t that money.

I can't justify the gas for an axe for the little I do and need to make go with a propane blow torch like @doubleboost ; .
I do have a Rtech plasma but it wouldn’t have the grunt to cut a bearing race the way @8ob shows.

The guys have identified all of the removal methods I can think of, however if you’re looking for a fun and innovative (maybe not that innovative!) way to get the new bearing on I can recommend using an excavator.

I was working for a demolition company and the press packed up mid-job in case anybody is wondering!

I once pressed a bush into a boom with a tele handlers fork after the press shat its oil all over.
