Fusion doesn’t work like that - a component is already a ‘block’ of sorts. (And you can also group things in the manner of a block)

The features can be added one at a time to the sketch in seconds prior to extruding, for something so simple why over complicate it? Unless this is also a learning exercise.
The only other simple and efficient way I can think of would be to extrude one quarter and mirror the resulting body twice, start with the diagonally opposite corner to your sketch at the origin to allow you to use the XY YZ planes to mirror, if the sketch has been made on the XZ (top) plane.
As far as im aware there is no way to easily mirror the cut outs on the corners of the body you have here.

If you sketched and extruded the entire object and just need the corners cutting out the only way I know is to create a body, mirroring it then using the mirrored bodies as tools in the combine funtion to cut them out but that is really long winded.

Same with software development - you jump in to fix someone else’s code and can’t fathom the complexity. At first you think “there must be a reason it’s engineered like this” before concluding “nope - it’s just a mess of over complexity”
Our word for decluttering and rewriting the spaghetti is “refactoring”.

Is there a 'replace' function then?
I might have to get a copy of this just to see what it's about - but when I started I also had the then-current version of TurboCAD (which ISTR I preferred) but so much AutoCAD stuff got thrown at me I gravitated towards that... so I don't know there'd be any point.

I think that there is a replace component command, but I haven’t had cause to use it (away from computer for a few days, so can’t check). I *think* that it only works on external components (i.e. ones that exist as separate files).

You can either have components 'local' to the design or as an external reference, an external reference component will update 'globally'.

I feel like I've got over a major learning "hump" with Fusion 360 now. It's starting to make sense to me. Even though I only know about 0.5% of it I was able to knock up a new drawing yesterday in an hour compared to over a week (on-and-off) for the previous one.
I think it's going to be worth it and I'm glad I persevered.

Oooohhhh..... good question
I think the hurdles, in order, were:
1. Understanding what a sketch was and realising that you can't "build" or assemble a sketch
2. Understanding axes, surfaces and planes (I know that's pretty fundamental for all 3D CAD, but knowing when I needed to sketch on a plane vs surface took a while)
3. Bodies, components and assemblies
4. Navigating the timeline of a body (and not being scared to "delete all forward of the timeline marker" rather than fix an earlier mistake)
5. Joints (I still don't totally understand the fixing points, which often results in one component being 90 degrees out. I just click away until it attaches in the correct orientation!)
I think I understand why you list the first 3 and agree (I think)..lol
Not sure I follow 4 and 5 yet... maybe one day.

Ref my item #4, it's the bit at the bottom marked "9" - being able to go back in time to edit something, then fast forward the changes, is really powerful
(not my drawing!)
I still find Joints involve voodoo, but I somehow eventually manage to get the right one, and with the component in the correct orientation.
Only use it when I really have to on a proper CAD model. On imported, dumb, models, then yes, only thing that works.
