ive dug this link out of my other pc for you
take a look at this video note the control set up as they light the stove
when primary air is heated it makes your stove even hotter than just direct air entering the stove from above or infront in your case
on rocket stoves certain models use primary air heating and then secondary air heating
lowering the flow makes it even hotter as the primary air has more time to heat up
note the orange colour within the flame the more orange to blue/purple the flame is the hotter the system is
dont build these stoves all steel rocket stoves burn themselves out in 2-6 months due to there internal heat inside the vortex
they need a core inside of them

Iv made a latch for the door which seems to work.
Now need to tidy it up, along with the hinges. Add a few brace pieces here and there, drill and pin the legs and then paint. Thanks for everyone's help so far!

Bit of an update. Been using the little stove a fair bit and so haven't got round to some of the jobs needed. I've Improved the door handle but still not completely satisfied with the nut and bolt setup. Extended the channel for the secondary air by adding a channel under the stove. Although the secondary combustion was working before I just thought it would help to get the air temperature up. It works pretty well TBH. Other than a few tweeks/refinements I just need to clean it off and paint it. I will try to get a video clip of it burning when I next light up. Overall I'm happy with it. It's a fun project and I have learnt a lot of how to improve or refine things if I do another.

Little update.
Bee using the stove regularly now away in the van camping and in the garden. We are really pleased with it. It's not looking as neat as the previous pictures as the paint has come off in places but this has not stopped it performing well. My wife has made a bag so it's easy to pack away and chuck in our van.
Been away this weekend and loaded her up a fair bit. Think we may have had it running a little too hot judging by the glow!

Yes Gaz, it's interesting. Kinda proves my secondary air setup is working, although not necessarily the ideal setup.
As this is just an inexpensive project I'm not bothered if it fails. Its had a fair bit of use so far and hopefully I'll learn a bit for the next one.
