I'm sure it was just the nozzle. But maybe a combination of a few things.
I used a new gun and first tried a 4mm nozzle but that didn't work so well. Too small for the media. I went up to a 6mm Nozzle and WOW, what a difference. I'm now using a fine/medium glass grit (0.5mm - 1mm).
Even with my current compressor (14CFM 150L Clark) I was blasting non stop for two hours with no drop in performance.
The grit is far coarser than the J-blast Supafine I'm used to and still no drop in pressure or suction. It's so coarse that I the parts come out rather rough which as now my paint sticks so much better and looks great. Another bonus. NO DUST.
I've also bought a large degreasing cabinet which is going to help a lot with removing grime and contamination of my media.
I also fitted a new window with tear off strips.
So thank you all for all of your help. I'm back working again.
its worth checking the blasting gun take the nozzle off and look down where the media comes through it blocks up in this area due to moisture only check this when the gun is disconnected from the air line
