giant mig 195 amp

hi i hav a giant 195 amp welder i bought about 5 years back i pulled it out today and started playing with it ..
now i have tryed gas its ok but i feel it would be expensive for a hobby welder ..
so my question,s are ..
the setting on the welder 1,2 hi lo ?????can sum one explain this pleas
what do i need to do to use flux core wire ??
where can i get a shroud and the spring thing that holds it on when it was lying in shed sum how the shroud spring got lost ...
do i need to change polarity for flux core wire .
or is it a wast of time as i dont know any thing about the welder just i bought it new 5 years ago ..shall i jut put it back under the bench

thanks its a fixed torch ill get photo shortly ...
i did try flex core before and yes it was very messy .. but this was b4 i found out about polarity..
i live out in the sticks so getting gas is a pain but i do have a buddy that fills fire extinguishers for a living i must give him a call and see if he can hook me up with sum co2 ..
i di think i was getting arching from the shroud as i melted a blob off it ..
what regulator woul i need for the co2 .. bottel ??

Hi Cookey is it the 195 Gas /no Gas , it must work with both !

As for the buttons 1 lo , 1 hi , 2 lo , 2 hi , basically four settings then use your wire feed knob to adjust wire speed , simples, never tried gasless wire so cant comment on that !

From what ive seen Gas less is a bit hit and miss it always seems to look messy , you may have more luck with gas , what are you welding ? , .6 wire for car body , .8 wire for heavier guage

honestly i dont know what wire im welding wit as i bought it 5 years ago but it was still in packet and nice and clean

pull the shroud off and have a look at the tip it may have it stamped on it .6 or .8

i just rang my buddy he will sort me out for a co2 bottle ..
next what size 2kg or 5 kg ??

bigger the better you wont have to fill so often !

ok so if i get the 5kg one how much welding time will i get out of it ?? and what gas flow do i need

it has a 4mm female connection on the back of it..
so a 5 gk will do a lot of welding i take it so or woul i be better off getting 2 2kg ones

ok i need to order regulator next ill have bottle on Thursday i need to order shroud and spring thing to hold it on ..

the regulator looks ok as long as the hose connection is right to fit your machine ! the picture looks like a quick release fitting on it , what is on your machine ?
