I went to Fronius today in Kilmarnock and I am going to purchase a Transpocket 1500 after xmas. They might be expensive but they are the most helpful manufacturer I have spoken to. Especially when I am buying from the bottom of the range.

I bought an Inverter Fusion 130MA welder a couple of months ago and it's been great. It is one of the black cased UK made ones. Total cost (incl. vat and delivery) was £270 from these guys

Yep. I noticed that. My IFL 200phf would have been £40 less from weldequip. I now know for another time.

Yep, bought in, and a bit cheaper from MTA.

On offer at BOC at the moment, got mine at Carlisle and paid £209 ex VAT. To me it seems fine have used it for several small site jobs and I can keep it in the pickup.

Yxchen, I think the Jury's out on that. Chinese welding equipment remains an unknown quantity. Reliability is too variable, and frankly most Chinese welding kit looks cheap and nasty, regardless of how well it works.

We have one small SMAW Chinese 200A invertor. When failed, after 15 months, used just occassionally, we paid 30EUR to a guy repairing welding equipment, just to open it and see what's going on.

At the end we paid round 110 EUR more for repairing... No aftersale support, no spare parts, no trained service-people... I personally do not recommend it.

If you are professional, do buy some made by the proven brands, if you are hobbyist you may try the luck.

A friend of mine bought a 200 amp tig a couple of years ago when the market was first flooded with them and it lasted half an hour. As he only bought it for a backup he decided to contact the seller and sent it back at his own cost to be repaired, almost £200. It was gone almost 3 months and when it came back was tried and used and it lasted less than a week under normal use. It then got left in the corner as a lesson learned.
