There's 4 rod types that are common. 6013 is the rod of choice for 85% of fabrication work there ideal for everything.7018 are a slightly stronger rod ideal for digger bucket repairs. 29/9 for welding dissimilar. And 316 if your stick welding a bit of stainless. Every other breed of rod is irrelavant to the diy welder.
6010 6011 and all them other rods are specialist rods for open root of tanks and pipe. Someone will probably cut me down for that and mention chrome alloy rod or something really exotic.
