No queues around here since Wednesday, although Costco was out of U/L yesterday afternoon, I'm down to 3/4 of a tank (~70l.) and don't feel the need to top up.....

There are no queues at any petrol station on the east of Manchester around Ashton, Hyde, Denton, Dukinfield, Stockport. Plenty of petrol and no pumps taped off. Like I said earlier, its old news.

If there is a shortage near you, the population around are still asleep, wandering lemming like behind each other, oblivious to the fact that most people have either come to their senses or become bored with topping the tank off each day with £2.50 worth of fuel. Besides, it's Friday night, the end of the month (payday) so most are going out to get hammered.

Unfortunately there's not many cliffs around here and the lemming population has swelled

Been out 4 times today looking for diesel around Aylesbury with no luck. As soon as there is a delivery word is out and the queues are massive. Thought I would wait it out but have a hospital operation next week. Current range showing as 5miles (I live fairly rural so realistlcally I get one shot to get there or run out!

£1.41 + per litre for diesel around here. You would be amazed how tight the margins are on fuel, the forecourt owners, the independants, are not making fortunes.

Last weekend i had 2 x 55 gallon drums of red on speed dial if it got any worse...no way was i going to have my trucks parked up when i am rammed currently with work luckily it did not get to DEFCON for me to press the button.

Oh, I knew there were margins but thats tighter than I thought! I am gutted, and also stupid, because my local provider (from whom I buy my heating oil) quoted me 99ppl during lockdown. I never got round to placing the order. What a bloody plonker.

Here's the result of queueing for hours to get the dregs of the fuel at the filling station.....

That was the third draining of the fuel filter, we recommended removal of the fuel tank, flushing & cleaning - otherwise the vehicle would go on warranty restriction.

The fuel tank is a 'saddle' tank, so the propshaft & exhaust middle section need to be removed, along with all the underside trimView attachment 312143

Wrong, the black pipe is the filler neck, bonded to the tank and rigid.

It sits between the bodyshell & the rear subframe, so that needs the brakes disconnecting and the subframe lowering, then you can get the tank out.

The rear diff is suspended from the subframe, all in all 7.3 hours including 1 hour to drain & clean the fuel tank. All for a bit of fuel which the driver (by his own admission) queued up for 'just in case'... It's not the first one we've had this week and probably not the last, the other was a petrol A Class on Motab, the driver was 'demanding' to know why there was water in his 'legitimate fuel from a legitimate filling station' and why it wasn't covered by warranty, even though he was paying nowt for the car and Motab were paying for repairs....

My Citroen BX leader was like that with a split tank.

I got a massive water draw from a local middle east fuel supplier Q8 . The Leader died about 150yards away form their pump ....they denied all knowledge .
I took it ( pal towed it ) to the local lemon dealership just round the corner . Had to use my lasses Fiesta to do my SE job. .......2 days later " Problem fixed Sir ,we had to remove & steam the tank , now pay £165 plus vat "

Two days later having filled up again at a different garage chain " Garry no go " , filter full of water yet again . Checked the tank ........ the muck sealing the tank fixing screws was still intact , no evidence of th exhaust piped being split or removed
Checked the transmitter cap under the back seat . Yup it's been lifted ..so they've sucked out one side of the saddle ..... BTD's !

After a difficult getting it home session I emptied the tank into translucent 25 litre containers . The tank contents I managed to drain off indicated over 1/5 of dirty water contaminated petrol .
Went to a farmer pal just down the road to ask him to bring his front loader to my place . We shoved a thick folded canvass & some lengths of 19 mm construction plywood planks under the left side then used the front loader to lift the side up on the forks till the rh side was almost touching the floor thus emptying most of the LH saddle .

Once it was back on the level I used a cheap pump attachment on my battery drill to empty the rh saddle . After a repeat exercise with several gallons of new clean flushing petrol it was clean & ran for another 45 K miles without fuel problems .

A few years ago just before Easter we had a motorhome come onto our forecourt for diesel, after filling it struggled to get across the road, no way had any fresh fuel got even as far as the filter, anyhow a few days later this customer was back ranting and raving saying our fuel was contaminated and he was going to sue. No other customers had a problem Our fuel suppliers were informed and we had to take random samples all of which was tested as OK . On asking the customer for a sample he brought in a jar full of crappy diesel , it had diesel bug probably caused by the motorhome standing over winter but he wouldn’t accept that as the cause. Funny we never heard anything else about it?

Tesco in Shaftesbury had petrol last night (I only put in 15ltrs, enough for me for a good few weeks because I usually run on electric all week) but was all out of diesel.

My local Tesco and London Gateway Services had no petrol yesterday, only diesel. Chucked 30L in the work van with no queue.

Went to two cars out of petrol though, combined total of 5 hours to get them fuel. Today i won't bother.
