Annoyingly in august we were on a few days holiday around Scotland. The big volvo decided to die just leaving Girvan - pretty remote place. Long story short it is sitting up north waiting for execution day …. The really annoying thing right now is I filled it up the morning of its demise :-( so if anyone is round Glasgow and has a plastic tube !!!

Saw someone (can't remember where - probably Faceache) point out that today we have the same number of ADR HGV drivers and fuel at the refineries as we do today - yet we have a "shortage"... Basically pointing out that it's just media hype that has caused people to go out panic buying thus emptying the forecourts.

Sainsbury's at Otford, emergency vehicles only.

Shell by S'oaks station shut.

BiL got some diesel just up on the right from Bat & Ball junction heading towards S'oaks town centre. Limited to £35 worth.

just head out when its ******* down, Tesco man confirmed I wanted diesel and said "just fill it up"
E5 was out, E10 was available.

Thats at least two weeks of pottering about fuel and me not in a queue clogging the place up for two weeks as a result.

I declare the invented crisis now over.

Only garage I passed with fuel on the way home was blocking up a roundabout on a dual carriageway.

Completely off topic (there's a first!), but something I found interesting;

HomoSapiens is what is known as a "persistence predator".
We have evolved to sleep less and be able to travel further than almost any other animal: we can simply keep going until whatever we are chasing has exhausted themselves, no matter how much bigger, stronger, or faster, than us they are.

We are capable of travelling, under our own steam (not on a pushbike), for 30-60 miles a day, day after day, simply by walking 12-14 hours a day, and sleeping for 8.
There are very few other land animals who can get close to that.

I'll tell my mates Albert Ross & W Hales, they think humans are puny .

I've had a guy come here several times , he's got propane bottles in his LWB landrovr to overcome the loss of LPG filling up places

I've had 40 litres of petrol ( self treated with fuel saver ) stashed away for using the petrol 2k pure 50 Hz sinewave genny .. doubt I'll be using it in the electric car though.
