I was running at 110psi - is that a bit too high?

Not at all.
It works even better but if you can't maintain pressure it's better to go low for consistency.
As has been said the best mod is the proper media valve. It transforms those cheap blast pots.

I think that not only was the glass moist and the moisture condensing on air compression in the feed hose the metal Fizzy mentioned , was surprising .

lt looked for all the world like bits of a twisted rotary wire brush in curls of up to 3mm in dia. and that some could attain 6 mm when straightened out .
Lots of the smaller wire stuff was quite dam . We used a very strong wand magnet that has a plunger to pull to drop off collected ferrous metals out of 15 kg or so of unused glass particles we got well over four table spoons of this steel wire crud out .

Blockages with the glass were often close to the nozzle , usually six or seven bits of glass in a blocking ball , it was a case of turn of the air to the out let and undo the nozzle when the air ran out then with out the nozzle on purge the line with just compressed air .. ( we wasted a lot of this glass blasting medium with each purge ). Then I refit the nozzle , Fizzy turn the air on and then open the sand supply valve .

Hey Fizzy if you are thinking of blasting the lathe bits get a portable car shelter to set up outside .. sweeping up 600 or so square metres of used medium after each emptying of the pot was blinking hard work.

Thinking also ( my left foot hurts ) can we use the small compressorwith suitable traps & filters and an air mask etc. to wear in the blasting area , the filters on my mask are stuffed.

Smaller parts will be done it my big blast cabinet. It is about 4'x3'x4' internally.
Lathe cabinets will be sheeted off - but don't worry probably be a while yet

My nice big compressor kept up fine with a 3mm nozzle - mind you it was probably 6mm by the time we had finished

Might make sense to have a double arrangement - blow and suck at the same time

So put up the tarp garage as your friend indicated, and you'll be able to pick it up much faster with the shop vac.
Speaking of "going everywhere"...... remember to always remove your wallet, keys, gun, and other stuff from your pockets before you start.
The sand makes a real mess of them.
