In fairness I'm just about to switch over to my 5th 1100s and they have a put up with a very hard life with very few problems. The only time I didn't get home was when a busted gearbox selector part left me in neutral. Last one I sold had 121k miles on it. This one has 89k and still going string but it got stolen last year and they did a fair bit of damage to the engine and gearbox bell housing by exploding (literally) the clutch. The next one is on 28k and I got it cheap due to the abs fault.
Never had a problem with the batteries and cranking but I have had a starter come apart. Still got home though.

I've had many Jap bikes and whilst I did enjoy them I won't be going back. Nothing Japan built has ever put up with my daily grind of continual stop start and filtering in all weather's like these tractorbikes do.

I have installed a few of these film strip sensors.
I "think" you have to condition the sensor via the diagnostics before you fit it into the petrol tank?.

Cold be wrong but worth looking into.

I'm sure Aprilia tried them out as well, not a very robust solution unfortunately.

All sorted now . It’s had a aftermarket upgrade to a different type of sensor made by a gentleman in Spain or that area .
So it was programmed in but has to do a start stop cycle with a full tank

Well my later gs needs a abs pump
Seems like Range Rover syndrome. The ingredients are ok but suddenly become unreliable when fitted together

I love me jap bikes, they are not a patch on my GS in terms of reliability and build quality.

Personally I'd just buy a crack gs911
