GYS 220 AC /DC TIG

Hi Chris, why would you suggest those brands against GYS? There is quite a reputable dealer trading GYS here in Italy, so if it is a question of tech support, I think they can get me covered.
I don't think Cebora has a 230V compatible model of GYS 220 level, or I am wrong? For Telwin I though they are of lower quality, no?
What about Everlast welders? They top 255 model seem fantastic for the money they ask

Hi Ciro, i have a Lincoln v205 ACDC welder wich is a rebadged Selco Genesis welder, its a fantastic welder and hasnt let me down once... I was suggesting that professional grade welders are quite easy to get in Italy with good support and parts availability...

So, Telwin top model does not give me any control of the waveform (choosing the triangular, square, etc.) which is the option that I would like to have.
For Selco I can't find any dealers or prices, have to write them. But I doubt that any of these machines can beat the gas at functionality and price (around 2200 eur)

Then it looks like you've narrowed it down to the GYS if it gives you the options you crave...Do you weld very thin stuff often that you need different wave form ? I did found it a bit o a gimmick and i mostly weld in square wave...fine if you wave it but i can live without the feature !

Other than subtle changes in noise and the hard/softness of the arc it doesn’t make a lot of difference and certainly wouldn’t be a feature I’d be set on as an absolute must.
Stick it in square and let it crack on.

Hi,
I´m with Richard here. There are several machines with great AC arc quality and just one waveform.
The Sanrex made Thermal Arc machines for example or the Stel 221 (which is italian and offers some kind of AC bias setting like the bigger Millers).
One waveform is totally fine for me.

Many of the italian machines have really noisy fans, that would be more important to me and could be very annoying if you work in a quit place usually.

I’ve probably said it a million and one times but the true testament of a good AC DC TIG Welding machine is it’s ability to put out a stable arc. I’ve use so many of the things and generally this gets better with the more you spend not the extra bells, whistles and features. A good solid stable arc is the single most vital thing needed from a unit to get the nicest results on the metal.
