GYS Easymig 140 review.

Well after 2 years I'll update this thread! I've still got the mig and it's still working well, I've not used it much but had to get it out yesterday to reweld the garden trolley as it didn't like carrying 30 bricks at a time and broke on a weld I did last year.
It took longer to get it out the box and set it up than to do the welds but it laid down a nice bead straight away with no fuss. Not the best example of a weld but that's me not the machine!
I gave the earth clamp a good clean as the contacts were tarnished so worth checking that if you haven't used it for a while.

I used to have one like that, untill the solenoid died, then the lotor, then the pcb.
Gys makes some great professionnal equipment, the white colored, but the yellow designed for the general consumer is kind of low quality.

I gave it to a friend who's only using it gas-less when the material is too thin for MMA

I am looking at getting an GYS Easy Mig to weld 0.8mm sheet. Replacing my Clarke 150 Pro for a lighter model.
So wondered if the wire speed stops dead on 3m as a minimum or can you wind it lower, I noticed the 110 model goes down to 2 m/min so I might go for that.

In the UK Lidi each year around February time sell 0.6mm flux cored reels which works ok, so I will be using that. Not as clean a weld as gas, but good enough, welding outside.

GYS state the minimum weld current is 30Amps will that be with 0.8mm wire or would using 0.6mm wire let less current flow, given that it will be with the voltage setting at it's lowest.
Probably best to ask GYS that.

I'm really just after some feedback on how these welders operate at the low end of things.

Sorry I missed this post! I'd say this machine is perfect for thin sheet welding, I did some 0.8mm steel when I first got mine and it was really nice to use.
