That's interesting.
It could be that the rest of the structure is contracting or moving when welded and putting too much stress on those particular welds, causing the cracks.

put a prep on the plates,looks like a square butt with no gap and your grinding all the weld off.also overcord does have a slight course finish like vodex(compaired with other 6013s)

i,e grind a bevel along the edges,that way you still have some weld reinforcement.
