Hammerite for car underbody

Frost sell aerosol tins of chassis black for ~£10 (ouch). Ebay turns up some fairly inexpensive products, though:

There seems to be some inconsistancy as to whether it should be used with a primer.

Also, it says "anti-corrosion". Anyone know what this is? I'm wondering how it'd compare to zinc or similar cold-galvinizing paints in managing existing corrosion.

anti corrosion i would take to mean , its painted so it wont rust

Perhaps the chassis black would be best seen as a stone-chip coating to be used over a corrosion-fighting primer, then. Although it'd loose it's adhesion advantages.

It's on my mind because I have the underside of two cars to do this summer and whatever goes on I want to be easy, cheap, effective and last forever

hammerite red oxide is good and the colour coats they do are also good but the down fall with um is they chip easy don't forget they were never meant for automotive use!

What's chassis black (£30/5ltr) like, compared with the brush on underbody seal (£15/5ltr)?
