Your problem is the size you want. 1mm tig wire is not common and add that to hardfacing and its rockin horse doodah....as mention FCW is useless for TIG....even metal cored often contain some flux....i wouldnt bother with that ebay stuff...what was the part made from originally...the inconel youve used before might be a few steps up from the original

I get that Al, I really am pushing the envelope here, I am mediocre as a stick welder, bit better with a Mig, don't ask me to weld Ally but this micro stuff fascinates me and I am getting really good at it. It is not just a matter of a steady hand either, it is a combination of interest/enthusiasm/practice and confidence. It has taken me four or five years.
I think we have identified the next obstacle, material. The stuff I am welding can be Cast, hardened steel, tool steel or recycled bedsteads. So far, the Inconel 625 has been brilliant and is workable, I am just not sure it is going to be durable enough. Some sears have stellite inserts from the manufacturer and they are pretty much indestructible and work well, I don't want to start down that road but a dab of material would be very helpful sometimes.

They go down to 1mm at least.
I get through a couple of cobalt bits a week. Thinking about it now I suppose I should have been collecting them in a separate scrap jar for the last 20 years...

Would none of the low alloy steel wires do what you're asking?

Or would the impact properties not be good enough? Sure it won't be as tough as cobalt chrome, but might be tough enough?
It would MIG and TIG ok though.
EDIt: Thinking along the same lines, you could use the hard wire for abrasion resistant parts, and some high strength steel or inconel wire for impact resistant parts...
