For what its worth, I just parted with £240 inc.Vat for a large rent free acetylene. £120 "deposit".and £120 gas.

IIRC BOC have introduced an oxy/acetylene version of the MIG/TIG Volkszone deal. I don't know exactly how it compares to your costs, Andy, but I'm pretty sure the gas at least is way lower and the rental may (or may not) compare favourably.
